Understanding the new NDIS Legislation

What It Means for Future Plans & How Stronger Foundations Is Evolving

The NDIS is entering a period of significant change. New legislation has now passed through Parliament, and over the next few years we’ll see a gradual shift in how plans are built, how supports are funded, and how participants are connected with the right services.

These changes are designed to make the NDIS more sustainable, more consistent, and more focused on building long‑term capacity. For many people, this brings a mix of relief, uncertainty, and curiosity about what comes next.

I want to offer a calm, clear overview of what these reforms mean — and how Stronger Foundations is quietly evolving to meet the future with stability, dignity, and clarity.

What’s Changing in the NDIS?

The new legislation introduces several key reforms:

  • A stronger focus on Capacity Building

Plans will increasingly emphasise supports that build skills, independence, routines, decision‑making, and community participation.

  • Clearer definitions of what each support category covers

This helps reduce duplication and ensures participants receive the right type of support at the right time.

  • A shift toward more consistent planning decisions

Plans will be built using clearer guidelines, reducing the variation participants often experience.

  • A future move toward Support Coordination Commissioning (SCC)

Over time, SC may be delivered through larger organisations, with a focus on quality, consistency, and outcomes.

  • A stronger emphasis on psychosocial supports

The legislation recognises the importance of relational, recovery‑oriented work for people living with psychosocial disability.

These changes will roll out gradually between now and 2028.

What This Means for Future NDIS Plans

You may notice future plans:

  • include more Capacity Building supports

  • include clearer descriptions of what each support is for

  • include more structured psychosocial supports

  • shift away from older terminology (like SC levels)

  • focus more on building skills, routines, and independence

  • include supports that blend together more naturally

The goal is to create plans that feel more stable, more predictable, and more aligned with your long‑term wellbeing.

How Stronger Foundations Is Evolving

To stay aligned with the new legislation — and to continue offering steady, relationship‑based support — I’ve updated my service offerings.

I now provide:

✔ Support Coordination

For participants who currently have SC funding in their plans.

✔ Psychosocial Recovery Coaching

Relational, trauma‑informed support that helps you navigate daily life, routines, decision‑making, and wellbeing.

✔ Capacity Building Supports

Expanded CB supports that focus on building skills, confidence, independence, and community engagement.

✔ CORE Self‑Management Training

Training and coaching for participants who want to manage their own supports, budgets, and routines with clarity and confidence.

These supports can be blended depending on your goals, your preferences, and your NDIS plan.

My Commitment Moving Forward

As the NDIS continues to evolve, my commitment remains the same:

  • to walk alongside you

  • to offer steady, relational support

  • to help you navigate change without overwhelm

  • to keep things calm, clear, and grounded

  • to support your independence and wellbeing

  • to honour your pace, your goals, and your lived experience

The NDIS may be changing — but the heart of this work remains the same.
