Mid-February Reflections: Easing Toward Autumn

As we move through mid‑February, there’s a quiet shift happening — the light changes, the evenings cool just a little, and the pace of the year begins to settle. Summer’s intensity softens, and we start to feel the early hints of Autumn arriving.

For many people, this time of year brings a mix of emotions. The return to routines, the pressure of new goals, or the lingering fatigue from the start of the year can feel heavy. For others, the gradual cooling brings relief, steadiness, and a sense of coming back into balance.

In my work with participants and families, this season often becomes a natural moment to pause and check in:

  • What’s feeling steady right now

  • What’s feeling stretched

  • What’s working well

  • What needs adjusting

  • What support might help things feel more manageable

Autumn invites us to slow down, breathe, and make small, meaningful changes that support wellbeing. It’s a season of gentle recalibration — not urgency, not pressure, just noticing and adjusting.

If you’re navigating the NDIS, mental health supports, or a period of transition, this can be a helpful time to revisit your routines, reconnect with your goals, or explore what you need for the months ahead. And if things feel unclear or overwhelming, that’s completely okay — you’re not meant to have everything figured out at once.

As always, I’m here to walk alongside you at your pace, in ways that feel safe and grounded.

Wishing you a steady, gentle transition into the cooler months.

NDIS Update (Feb 2026)

Here are a few simple updates about the NDIS so far this year. I’ve kept this in plain language so it’s easier to follow.

Planning changes are coming, but not yet

The NDIS is planning some big changes to how plans are made.

These changes were meant to start sooner, but now they won’t begin until mid‑2026.

Nothing major is changing right now.

Changes for children are moving slowly

The government is working on a new program for children called Thriving Kids.

This will support some children outside the NDIS.

It’s happening very slowly and will take a few years.

There are no sudden changes for families at the moment.

More rules for some providers

Some providers will need to follow new rules and register with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission.

This is mostly for providers offering higher‑risk supports.

It does not affect most everyday supports.

Plans may feel tighter

The NDIS is trying to manage costs, so some people may notice:

  • more plan reviews

  • funding changes

  • the need to explain supports more clearly

If this happens to you, you’re not alone — many people are experiencing this.

Behaviour support changes are coming later

New behaviour support rules will start in mid‑2026.

This won’t affect most participants right now.

Regards,

Maggi
